Oh my, Whidbey Island Ice Cream. Hand dipped, covered in chocolate, made with the best and local ingredients. What’s not to love? Whidbey Island Ice Cream was founded in 2005 by Mike and Mary Rudd. It was an ice cream dream for them. It has since changed hands to Ron and Florence Hecker in 2009, who continue the tradition and produce amazing ice creams.
Whidbey island Ice Cream is hand dipped, making each bar a work of love and art. Like the islands they come from, they are made a little bit slower. The care and time absolutely comes through with each bite. It is pure perfection when you crack that chocolate shell and taste creamy goodness. The Hecker’s continue the tradition of producing high quality, great tasting products while still providing exceptional service. “We live by these words, work by them and make the best tasting ice cream you’ll ever taste” says Florence.
They can be found in many grocery stores and their carts at the farmers markets. Some unique flavors are banana, chocolate strawberry chardonnay and chocolate lavender chardonnay. The most requested flavors are mint and espresso. Cliff is one of the usual faces you’ll meet at the market. He is their son in law and greets you each time with a warm smile. He does just about everything at the factory, including offering these delectable goodies at the market.
Ice cream is perfect anytime. Be sure to grab a bar or visit them in at the Friday Farmers Market Everett Mall, Everett Farmers Market and Snohomish Farmers Market. We certainly all scream for Whidbey Island Ice Cream.
